GAMEPLAY: FOLLOW THE RHYTHM AND STORY
Friday Night Funkin’ Soft retains the style of pressing the corresponding arrow keys to match the rhythm (beats). Notes move toward target arrows, and the correct keys have to be pressed in time with the music. Accurate inputs help maintain the performance during each battle. Story scenes connect the musical challenges and introduce the mod’s alternate versions of familiar characters. The original release features six chapters, 12 playable songs, four menu tracks, redesigned characters, and remade backgrounds.

- Cinematic presentation: The game is divided into Chapters instead of the traditional Weeks. Between songs are dialogue-based cutscenes that connect naturally, making the game feel like an interactive animated film.
- Special health bar mechanism: In some climactic songs (especially when facing psychological fear), the health bar can shift in unpredictable ways, requiring players to concentrate intensely.
- The music has a melancholic tone: The original songs are remixed in a gentler, more poignant style, but the tempo in the hard modes remains extremely challenging.
